West Texas doesn't play nice with patios. Stop surviving yours.
Patio Shield installs motorized screens, awnings, and shades built for wind, dust, bugs, and a sun that never takes a day off. Based in Amarillo and serving the Texas Panhandle, West Texas, and New Mexico.
Four ways to take your patio back
Every product we carry is motorized or built to handle Panhandle weather. Usually both.

Retractable motorized screens that close in your patio against wind, dirt, and bugs, then disappear into the header when you don't need them.
See outdoor screens
Shade on demand for decks and open patios. Roll it out for the afternoon sun, roll it back for the stars.
See awnings
Motorized shades for inside the house. Run them from a keypad, a remote, or your phone, and stop wrestling with cords.
See interior shades
Exterior screens that stop heat and glare at the window, before your AC has to deal with it.
See solar screensYou know the problem. You live in it.
Wind
The Panhandle doesn't do light breezes. Standard MagnaTrack screens are rated to 75 mph, and the Defender Hurricane Series is rated for Category 5 winds of 156 mph and up.
Dirt
If you have to wipe the table down before every meal outside, you already know. Lowered screens block blowing dust and debris.
Bugs
Summer evenings come with uninvited guests. Screens keep them out without closing off the view.
Cold
Lower the screens and the space holds its comfort. Add a heater and the patio stays usable well past October.

You can see out. The neighbors can't see in.
From inside the patio, the view stays open and natural, with light and depth intact. From outside, the screen gives you a layer of privacy without making the space feel boxed in.
- Retrofit or recessed. MagnaTrack works on existing patios or built into new construction.
- Magnets, not zippers. The side tracks flex under wind pressure and reseat themselves, so the screen doesn't jam or tear.
- Four seasons, one patio. Shade in summer, bugs out in fall, wind and dust out in spring, and a closed-in space that holds a heater's warmth in winter.
How the screen stays tight matters more than the screen
Every retractable screen has to hold its edges in a side track. There are three common ways to do it. Springs are great. On a trampoline.
| Feature | MagnetsMagnaTrack | SpringsSpring-loaded tracks | ZippersZipper tracks |
|---|---|---|---|
| What holds the tension | Opposing neodymium magnets pull the screen edge into the track | Mechanical springs push the track insert against the screen | Zipper teeth on the screen edge lock into a fixed track |
| When a hard gust hits | The insert slides and the magnets separate. The fabric flexes but stays locked in the track, then the magnets pull it back | Springs compress and rebound | Held rigid, so the force goes into the fabric and teeth |
| Parts that wear | No springs to stretch or fatigue. Magnets hold their pull for years | Springs flex on every cycle and every gust, and metal springs lose tension over time | Teeth wear and can pull out of the track |
| West Texas dust | Fewer moving parts for grit to work into | More moving parts for grit to work into | Grit in the track adds drag on the teeth |
| The usual service call | MagnaTrack's design eliminates 98% of common operational issues | Adjusting or replacing tired springs | Re-zipping a screen that popped out, jams, and re-wraps |
Anybody can print a wind rating on a brochure. Ask for the paperwork.
Some companies throw around big wind numbers with nothing behind them. We'll put the documents in your hands. The MagnaTrack hurricane system has been impact tested to ASTM E1886 and E1996 standards at Missile Level D, the same kind of testing storm shutters go through on the Gulf Coast.
If a company can't show you the test behind its rating, that tells you something.

I would say hands down this is the best upgrade you can do to your home for the money. I can spend all day on my patio, cold or hot, in the rain, in the wind and not be effected by any of it. Security wise, you can see clearly outside but nothing looking in and its sturdy enough to withstand the wind we had weeks ago and a 100 pound doodle running right into it. Taylor and Colton were fantastic in providing quick and methodical installation and went above and beyond trimming brick and extra wood to make sure it is a perfect fit and seal. Cannot recommend this company and its product enough
If you're in the market for top of the line products, service, and wanting to be 100% satisfied with your new Magna Track Shades- Taylor is the guy! My wife and I couldn't be more happy with the job Taylor and his team provided for use. Well Done!!
We are very pleased with our shades. Five stars all the way. Taylor was very transparent about what to expect and went over all the great options. His guys that installed it did a fantastic job in a very timely and professional manner.
I have to give Taylor and his crew a 5 because the work they did on installing our shades was 5 star work, it wouldn't let me give any higher star or I would have!!! These shades are beautiful and very helpful when the sun is shining bright!! Our pups are even sleeping later because when its time to get up they think it's still night!! Thank you Patio Shield Solar Shades for the awesome drone footage!!!
